Imagination Celebration kicks off its 12th year of live theater “Imagination Experiences” at the Pikes Peak Center with its 2012/2013 Over the Moon Family Theater season. The first production of the season is the beloved classic tale of pirates and swashbuckling adventure, “Treasure Island.”
Adapted by David Morgan from the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, this Magik Theatre production tells the classic tale of buccaneers and buried gold. Sail aboard the HMS Hispaniola with young Jim Hawkins for a daring adventure. In a conflict between good and evil, Jim courageously faces danger, learns that evil can masquerade as good, and matures from a boy into manhood. Join him, the good doctor, the squire, sinister Blind Pew, marooned Ben Gunn, the infamous Long John Silver and a colorful crew of buccaneers for this exciting musical adventure.
Like each show in the Over the Moon Family Theater season, “Treasure Island” is a special Imagination Experience with families encouraged to don their favorite jammies or pirate-appropriate costumes and join together at 6:00 pm, one hour before “Treasure Island” showtime, in the Pikes Peak Center lobby to engage in family fun. Activities will include Imagination Celebration’s signature hands-on projects, meeting special surprise guests, exploring buccaneer-related activity stations throughout Imagination on the Mezzanine, and shopping for creative “Treasure Island”-themed gift items. Each child will be given a FREE keepsake IC PlayBook packed with more activities to do at home. The performance of “Treasure Island” begins at 7:00 pm and after the show the Imagination Experience continues with free Sinton’s milk and freshly baked cookies in the lobby, along with a special autograph session with the “Treasure Island” cast in full costume!
“Treasure Island” individual show tickets are extremely affordable, ranging from $9.00 to $17.00 per seat. Great seats are still available for the production at the Pikes Peak Center Box Office or at Imagination Space at The Citadel (upper level of Burlington Wing) from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 719-520-SHOW, or online at www.pikespeakcenter.com.
