In March, Covered Treasures Bookstore, 105 Second Street, Monument, 719-481-2665 is hosting a month-long literary event, "Women in the Writing World" the first three Thursday evenings and the last Saturday afternoon. Women authors and a publisher will be discussing the literary trade.
-March 7, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Holly Sly will sign her personal and inspirational story, Toolbox from Heaven. Holly's young daughter developed life-threatening meningitis and encephalitis resulting in profound hearing loss. Holly's deep faith guides her through this jumbled medical path from diagnosis to resolution.
-March 14, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Nancy Saltzman, a former Colorado Springs educator, Colorado's National Distinquished Principal, and recipient of the American Cancer Society's Sword of Hope, will discuss her book, Radical Survivor from 6:30-7:00 p.m. at Monument Fire Department's Administration Building. After the discussion, Nancy will be signing her books at the bookstore. A ticket is required for the discussion but is redeemable for a book purchase this evening.
-March 21, 6:30-8:00 p.m, Doris Baker, owner of Filter Press located in Palmer Lake will discuss publishing aspects of the book business. There will be a question and answer period and then Filter Press books will be available for 10% off at the store. The discussion will be held at the Monument Fire Department's Administration Building, 166 Jefferson Street and a ticket is required for this portion of the evening. This ticket is redeemable on the purchase of a book this evening.
-March 30, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Children's author, Barbara Ziek will be at the store signing her book, Zadie and Plain Vanilla, an adorable book about Alpacas. Weather permitting, Barbara will bring a few of her alpacas to the store.
