April is the last opportunity for a family to select an exchange student for the coming school year. Duane Slocum, long time Colo. Springs resident, is the International Coordinator for the Pikes Peak region.
Slocum is looking for an additional host family, who is willing to add a girl from Columbia or Japan or a boy from France or Spain to their family. "I have four host families in my group now -- two girls from Norway, a girl from Russia and a boy from Denmark. Five host families is an ideal number for our group," commented Slocum.
The students arrive in early August to get enrolled into the high school. A student comes with health insurance, excellent speaking and writing English skills and spending money. A potential Host Family has the ability to review the entire data base of over 100 international students who are looking for a host family.
A Host Family can be a single parent, empty nesters or a family with children in the home. It takes several weeks to complete the paperwork, have a home evaluation, complete background checks and get forms signed by the high school.
Anyone interested in seeking more information should contact Slocum at: firstname.lastname@example.org or contact him at: 599-8955 or 440-7402. This will be an adventure providing memories for a lifetime.
