The Sunrise Players and orchestra of Sunrise Church are busy rehearsing once again to present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor© Dreamcoat the end of February/first of March 2013. The 25 member cast has been busy learning lyrics for this popular show as well as rehearsing choreography for most of the over 20 musical numbers.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor© Dreamcoat is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice the team that gave us Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and some of the songs in the new 2011 musical version of The Wizard of Oz.
“Joseph” is based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis and was the first Lloyd Webber and Rice musical to be performed publicly in 1968 and is best known for its long six-year run and movie starring Donny Osmond. The show has little spoken dialogue; it is completely sung-through.
This musical is being produced by the same Sunrise Players team that previously brought you the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar, It’s A Wonderful Life, Fiddler on the Roof, Godspell, The Sound of Music, Children of Eden, and Moses-A Prince of Egypt.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor© Dreamcoat will be presented at Sunrise Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th, March 1st and 2nd with a matinée on Sunday March 3rd at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available on-line at sunriseplayers.com or will be available at the door if not sold out.
