CSFreshInk.com: Where small talk is a big deal

It is time for the "No Call List Law" to be amended.  I believe that there is currently no restriction at all regarding calls from charities and political organizations.  There are a
couple of charity organizations that call our house at least three if not four
to five times per week--sometimes more that once an evening.  Yes, we have
Caller-ID on the phones and with our Direct-TV on the television screen, but
there are many times -especially when eating dinner when the calls are the most
annoying-that we are not conveniently able to see the caller-ID.

I am not opposed to charities or political organizations [well, lately I am
thinking that my attitude towards politicians regardless of the animal they are
riding needs some serious revision].  But I will choose if and most
certainly when I want to contribute {and that will never be during the dinner
hour!} to any given cause, and if I have not contacted them, that means that I
have not chosen to contribute to them.

The "No Call" law needs to be amended so that if an agency calls a
given phone number and is told that they do not want to be called again, the
caller is in violation of the law if they do so and is thus forth subject to a
fine.  Any politician who pledges to support such a law change will have
my support and possibly a contribution toward their campaign (that is if they
don't call me on the phone regarding same).

In addition, groups should be aware that we---and I know of others who feel the
same way---will never contribute to groups that use professional  fund
raising callers that they are paying to solicit funds for them, as I will never
give to a group that pays for this instead of using volunteers.

I'm going to sound like an old fogey, but here goes: Remember when the only people who called you were friends or family? You picked up the phone and didn't hear a computer-generated voice yammering away? I keep my outgoing voice message as short as possible, because my friends have to start talking while I screen our calls from a distance. I may just have a cat on my lap or be in the middle of serving up my dogs' dinner.
