April 26, 9:00 AM - Noon -- DISTRICT 12 COMMUNICATION CONTEST FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING will take place at Canon Preschool, 1201 W. Cheyenne Road, COS, hosted by the Academy Optimist Club.  The CCDHH provides an opportunity for young people who are deaf or hard of hearing to communicate in a public forum while developing valuable skills and confidence.  The students write and present a 4-5 minute speech on this year's topics "Why My Voice Matters" or "Why My Opinion Matters."  The hard-of-hearing contestants in this contest will do their speeches orally vs by sign language (ASA) since the signed contest occurred February 27th. The top three contestants from both the deaf and the hard of hearing contests will be invited to the CO/WY district convention at the Marriott Hotel in Golden, CO on Saturday May 11, 2013.  Here the winners will compete for two scholarships of $2,500.  One of the scholarships goes to the best speech given by a contestant who signs the speech, while the second scholarship goes to the top contestant doing the speech orally.  The Academy Optimist Club is one of many Optimist Clubs throughout Colorado and worldwide.  Optimist programs and service projects include Bringing Up Grades (BUG), Liberty Kids, Brain Bowl Contests, Essay Contests, Santa Train on the Cog Railway, as well as sponsorship of junior service clubs at all school levels.  To learn more, visit the local club's website at www.academyoptimist.org, or attend a meeting on Tuesdays 7:15 AM at Mimi's Cafe, 7133 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, or you may call 719-593-2880.

Santa's Workshop
Genesis Medspa is proud to be a part of Santa's Workshop fro the soldiers of Fort Carson. Santa's Workshop supports deployed soldiers' families during the holiday season. The hope and purpose of Santa's workshop is to make it possible for every soldier to provide for their children this holiday season. "This is a great way for us to show support for our deployed troops. This will be the third year Genesis clients and staff have collected toys and we couldn't think of a better way to make a difference in the life of a child." says Dr. Lisa Jenks, owner and Medical Director at Genesis Medspa. Genesis Medspa will be collecting toys the month of November until December 15th. To support this cause bring a new and unwrapped gift for children infant-17 years of age. ‎"COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be closing Interstate 25 at Woodmen Road tomorrow night, allowing crews to install a large sign across the highway.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, all lanes of northbound I-25 will be closed at the Woodmen Road Interchange (Exit 149). All traffic will detour via the off- and on-ramp, with the traffic signals adjusted to provide additional “green” time for the northbound traffic traveling through the intersection at the bottom of the ramp. Some slowing should be expected through the area.
All lanes of northbound I-25 will reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. on Friday. "

If you live by Broadmoor Bluffs area there is a water leak. CSU has blocked BB half way up. Detour takes people from Farthing to Neal Ranch which crosses over to Broadmoor Bluffs.
