Discover Goodwill has opened a new attended donation center located at 6530 S. Academy Blvd., Suite 112, in the Safeway Shopping Center near the intersection of South Academy and Highway 115. Donations of clothing, shoes, housewares, furniture, appliances, sporting goods, computers and electronics, books and other gently used items are welcomed. Donated items are tax deductible, and all Goodwill material donors are treated to beverages, tootsie pops for the tots and doggie biscuits for accompanying canine companions.
“For some time we have been scouting for a new attended donation center location to serve residents, businesses and the Ft. Carson population near the South Academy and Highway 115 corridor,” said Vice President of Operations and Sales Lorrie Molli. “We are thrilled to have secured a prime, store front site in the Safeway Shopping Center where people can take care of their consumer needs and drop off their unused items to help change lives here in our community.”
Customary to all Discover Goodwill donation sites, the South Academy donation center offers quick and convenient drop off of material donations, and is always staffed during the daily operational hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This location represents Discover Goodwill’s 17th donation center throughout southern and western Colorado. Many of Discover Goodwill’s donation centers are co-located with retail centers, while others operate as independent sites or in partnership with Wal-Mart and Safeway stores.
Discover Goodwill uses nearly 90 percent of all proceeds from the sale of donated goods to provide life skills and job development opportunities for individuals with disabilities and disadvantages.
