Les Johnson, Vista Ridge High School head football coach, holds Falcon School District 49’s Golden Ball Trophy high with his players and school faculty Nov. 9 at Vista Ridge High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. Tammy Harold, District 49 Board of Education president, awarded them for earning the distinction of the district's top performing football team in 2012. The players defeated Falcon High School during a game last Friday, securing the board president’s cup for their second consecutive year. At the end of each season, the top high school football team engraves the year to their school’s side placard, a tangible and lasting memory of their athletic achievements. Falcon High School won in 2010, the cup's inaugural year.
