David Paul of Brooklyn, N.Y., helps first grader Derek Brown, 7, spin a basketball Jan. 23 at Meridian Ranch Elementary School in Falcon School District 49. Paul is one of six performers from the Harlem Wizards who'll challenge Falcon Nation, a basketball team of students and teachers, during an evening game at Falcon High School. The Harlem Wizards will showcase their unique athletic talents and teamwork with basketball-handling tricks, unconventional dunks and comedic engagement. "We put the fun in fundraising, said Paul, while touring schools. "We want to get the students all riled up about the game tonight." Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $15. The game starts at 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit Falcon High School's basketball team, offsetting costs associated with jerseys, equipment, camps and tournaments. According to Paul, the Harlem Wizards visited more than 1,200 schools last year, while playing more than 300 games for school fundraisers.
