On 1 Sep 2014 Ms. Pula Davis was a guest of the Palmer Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Palmer Lake Historical Society and given the prestigious and special duty to light the Palmer Lake Star. This honor was bestowed upon Pula in appreciation for her role in the Freshink and especially helping Palmer Lake publicize historical events in the Freshink. Palmer Lake Star shines for Tim

For the 78th year, the Palmer Lake Star will again shine from Sundance Mountain and decorate the front range for the Christmas season.  This is the first year the star is listed on the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties.  I was a member of the Palmer Lake Historical Society Board with honor of preparing the star’s nomination for the register.   Many folks assisted me including Tim Wagner, a Palmer Lake surveyor who completed a comprehensive survey of the star back in January 2009. …See More

Star shines for Fallen Fire Fighters

The Palmer Lake Star is shining this July above the Town of Palmer Lake and you should know why.   Some very determined and dedicated citizens built the Palmer Lake Star in 1935.    Every December and on special occasions, the 91-light bulb, 500-foot star set upon Sundance Mountain has illuminated the night.  In 1937, the Palmer Lake Volunteer Fire Department (PLVFD) took on the duty and challenge of maintaining the star.  The PLVFD fire fighters and the citizens of Palmer Lake have done well…See More

Veterans Home Run is GO for Sept 8th!

The Pikes Peak Road Runners will host the 7th annual Veterans’ Home Run 5K run/3K walk on Saturday, September 8th, at 8:00 am at South Monument Valley Park.  This section of the park is located just north of Bijou St near the intersection of West View Place and Boulder Crescent Street.  As you know, the affects of the Waldo Canyon fire prompted us to wisely postpone the race from its original June 30th date and Memorial Park location.  We are happy to report “WE are GO for VHR 2012” on…See More
