The 3rd Annual Western Spirit Mixer was held on May 3, 2013 at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame to kick-off a summer of “all things western”. PIKES PEAK RANGE RIDERS LAST SURVIVING CHARTER MEMBER PASSES

John W. “Bill” Sausser, 92, of Sabetha, Kansas died January 22, 2013. Bill was the last surviving Charter Member of the Pikes Peak Range Riders. Jim Williams from the Pikes Peak Range Riders stated “It is truly the end of an era for the Pikes Peak Range Rider organization”. Bill began his life in Seneca on February 9, 1920. Western Heritage Spirit Art Project

For the second year the Western Heritage Spirit Committee has sponsored an art project; this year local high schools were given a 6’ plywood depiction of a barrel racer and challenged to design it by answering the question “what does Western Heritage, in the front range area, mean to me?” The goal of the art project was to involve our youth in embracing our western heritage in a creative way. Colorado Springs Street Breakfast Token Presentation

The annual Colorado Spring Street Breakfast Token presentation was held on June 14th at 11:00 AM at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. This event is held on Thursday prior to the street breakfast and commemorative tokens are presented to the Mayor and Chair of the El Paso County Commissioners. Manitou Springs High School Band Christmas Tree Recycling Fundraiser at Manitou Springs

The Manitou Springs High School Symphonic Band is a 60-piece ensemble that performs regularly in Manitou Springs. All concerts are FREE and open to the public.Every other year the group travels out-of-state for a performance/festival experience, cultural experience, and educational experience. Western Spirit Committee announces Art Project Auction

The Western Spirit Committee held the first annual Western Spirit Art Project contest on April 28, 2011 at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. Fifteen front-range high schools were given a 7’ plywood depiction of a saddle bronc rider and challenged to design it by answering the question “what does Western Heritage, in the front range area, mean to me?” The goal of the art project was to involve our youth in embracing our Western Heritage in a creative way. Western Heritage Spirit Art Project Auction

The Western Spirit Art Projects are available for sale to the highest bidder; select your favorite silhouette and make a bid by contacting John Skalla at 719-291-3210.

Donations will be made in your name to the PPOB Rodeo or your favoritr local charity.

The silhouettes will be in the PPOBR Parade on July 10th and displayed at the PPOBR July 11-14.
