Local shelter needs volunteers

Recently, Lookwhatthecatbroughtin, received a litter of day-old kittens from Animal Emergency Care Center North. These kittens are now four weeks old and are being bottle fed every four hours. They are all at risk because they may not have received any mother’s milk during their first 48 hours. The colostrums kittens normally receive from mom protects them from some potentially fatal diseases. One of the kittens has a second strike against her. She possibly has “aortic arch,” a syndrome caused…See More

Let me introduce you to our cast of characters.
My husband "Pops" and I are live on five plus acres between Black Forest and Peyton with our children substitutes, 4 Akitas and 1 truly imperfect cat, named of course, Purrfect.
I grew up in Colorado, he's from Chicago. We love the Broncos and the Bears, music, television and technology.
Some people lead fairly quiet lives. Our lives are usually filled with constant misadventure. I am not sure if it is because we have several dominant pets or because my husband is always involved in some activity but whatever the reasons we are usually in the middle of a storm.
This blog will chronicle our adventures when I have time to file them. Most of the time I will just try to make users laugh.

Women's Resource Agency celebrates 40 years of empowering women and girls

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 12:57pm 0 Comments

Over the past 40 years, the Women's Resource Agency has helped 60,000 women and girls improve their lives, saving an estimated $18 million in public assistance as clients have moved from living in poverty to being economically independent.

But it hasn't been an easy haul, says the organization's founder, Marilyn Kastel, a retired college administrator.

"It's been on the brink several times. It's taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to keep it alive," she says of the…

Moving to FreshInk

For about 3 years I maintained a blog about all my pets' antics on the Black Forest Hub. I hope to continue posting our family's activities here.

Mother Nature hasn't won the war but she has bedeviled me all summer long. If you live out in northern El Paso County you already know what I mean - about the hail and wind we have had this year. None of which has really helped with having a garden. But… Continue
