Hard work brings good results. And the 2013 St. Mary’s High School graduating class is proof of that. The 89 graduates in the class of 2013 have earned $9.7 million in college scholarships, setting a school record.
Pat Davis, SMHS counselor, said the last class that compared in size to this year’s class earned $8.8 million in scholarships. She said they are largely merit scholarships, with a few athletic scholarships included.

The St. Mary’s High School class of 2013 is moving on. The 89 seniors received their diplomas on Monday morning during commencement held at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Security. But the mark left by the class won’t soon be forgotten.

Seven students at St. Mary’s High School were confirmed into the Catholic Church on Sunday, May 18. The event took place at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Colorado Springs.
The students, who have been working this year with Father Brian Roeseler, are: Colton Calandrella, Benjamin Delp, Jacob Emmel, Miles Keane, Aman Mital, Kuran Mital, and Cannon Wille. Father Roeseler is chaplain at St. Mary’s.

Every 7-year-old dreams of what he will be when grows up. For most, those dreams remain just that as other ambitions take over. But 7-year-old Richard “Nick” Nickelson’s dream of being a Navy “frogman” would provide him with amazing experiences, including playing a part in the historic last flight in the Mercury space program.
