In early 2010, Chris Kjeldsen, a Palmer High School alumni, posted a Palmer High school band picture on Facebook, surprisingly, that picture received 65 replies, and started an avalanche of interest and desire to gather for a reunion.  What started as a reunion get-together turned into honoring Frank Montera, Band Director, and leader of these once young musicians. 

As 2010 progressed, a small number of alumni met for the first time in 15 to 30 years, and begin to work at putting this event together.  Some of the band alumni could not make the 2010 event, so the committee decided to do a second reunion, a more formal one, in 2011.

The 2010 reunion was a fantastic event where there was much reuniting, dining, and all around good time.  There were many speeches about Frank Montera and his gifts of education, musical experiences, and personal time he gave up to help students musically.  There was extraordinary affection everyone felt for Frank, he had an enormous impact on student lives.   He taught us musical excellence, dedication, committment, and allowed us to be who we were...musicians, students, geeks, athletes, drill team dancers, cowboys, and most of all young students just learning about the grown-up world. 

For the 2011 reunion...

We have asked Frank Montera to conduct a group of able and willing alumni to play a few songs at the reunion.  It has been 30 years since this group played together!  Some alumni are professional musicians, some play now and then, and some are just picking-up their instruments since high school  to play with this group.  This reunion is open to all friends of the Era of Montera and Palmer High School!
