The event will take place at the Air Force Academy and ride the most beautiful section of the Santa Fe Trail. There will be three mountain bike ride options (4 mile family ride, 16 mile, and 24 mile routes) utilizing the trail system. After the ride, there will be a picnic and a kid’s play zone with tons of fun activities, including: bounce house, face painting, balloon animals, snow cone machine, bike decorating station, carnival games, and much more. An awards assembly will follow to honor top fundraisers, and there will be prize drawings, including a Lance Armstrong signed jersey and new kids bike, for all riders who raise $100 or more.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort

11:30-1:00 pm

Kids on Bikes mission is to provide bikes to children through programs that inspire a healthy lifestyle, independence, and achievement. The first annual luncheon titled Raising a Champion: The Lance Armstrong Story as told by his mom Linda Armstrong will raise much-needed funds to support the mission and expansion of the organization. Lance Armstrong’s mom Linda will serve as the keynote speaker for the luncheon and local cycling legend Chris Carmichael will also be in attendance as a special guest to introduce Linda. Linda will be discussing the tools she gave her son Lance, to succeed and the opportunity his bike provided. Growing up in the Dallas Projects and receiving her GED, Linda’s journey as a single parent will highlight the impact a bike provides a child and the importance of kids being healthy and physically active. Love to have you follow up with how much money was raised for the program in Saturday's event -- or the two events combined. If you have photos of people in Saturday's ride (especially if they can be identified) that would be great to post with a follow-up story. Thanks for sharing this and keeping us informed.
