Colorado Springs, CO (Nov. 13, 2012) – The Lewis Palmer High School soccer team will be presenting a check to the Make-A-Wish Foundation this Thursday as part of a season-long fundraiser. The soccer players have partnered with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to sponsor Keagan, a local boy with Cystic Fibrosis which requires ongoing daily treatment. Their goal was to raise funds to send Keagan to Disneyworld. The boys from the LP soccer team have asked people to make pledges and, for every goal scored this season, they earned money to make Keagan's wish come true. Each goal was worth $60. If anyone would like to make a flat donation or make a pledge they can e-mail Ann Heer at iamheer1@msn.com.
“This Thursday, Nov. 15th at 10:29 at Lewis Palmer High School the boys’ soccer team will be presenting a check for $3,118.87 to a representative from Make-A-Wish at a school assembly,” said Ann Heer. “Also in attendance will be Keagan Sanders, the 6 year old boy with Cystic Fibrosis whom the team sponsored. The team helped send Keagan to Disneyworld to celebrate his 6th birthday with his family.”
The LP boys’ soccer team was able to raise the funds by getting people to make a pledge for each goal scored this season. The team scored 38 goals with a result of raising over $3,000.00 towards Keagan's wish.
“The boys made a video featuring Keagan to help get the school get involved with what the team is trying to do. We hope that the community will get involved and help Keagan realize his lifelong dream of going to Disneyworld.”
A highlight this season was when Keagan came to their game on Oct. 2 and they presented him with a jersey and made him an honorary player of their team. The team played Vista Ridge and was down at the half. After encouragement by Keagan, the team came back to win the game 3-2 in the second half. Tuesday, Oct. 16th at 6pm is their last home game scheduled for the season.
