After only a few years, the Pikes Peak Studio Tour
has become a Colorado Springs institution. This year, its seventh, the tour boasts 15 artists in 10 studios, welcoming art lovers from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. The tour is free.
This is the fifth year that Marc Jenesel and Karen Pierce of Willow Bend Studios
have participated. They create one-of-a-kind vessels using clay, fiber, metal and stone.
"We’re excited about adding more metalwork to our basketry,” Jenesel said. “We’re adding another layer of complexity.”
“It’s becoming more sophisticated,” Pierce added.
They’re excited about the group as a whole, seeing the returning artists again and welcoming new ones.
“We’ve got a terrific group this year, they’re really energetic,” Pierce said.
The newbies offered new ideas, including expanding the traditional brochure to a 20-page, full-color booklet. The artists also dipped their toes into new media, creating videos that play on peakradar.com
