COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (Nov. 14, 2012) - The 2012 Colorado Springs Christmas Crèche Exhibit & Concerts will feature (14) exclusive musical & concert performances from 5pm-9pm on Nov. 30th & 10am-9pm on Dec. 1st, 2012.  These performances will be performed during the 2012 Crèche Exhibit and Live Nativity presentations at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Liberty Chapel located at 8610 Scarborough Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920 (near the intersection of Powers & Research Parkway). 

 

 

"We would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come out and enjoy all of the nativity scenes as well as experience the incredible Live Nativity presentations and the extraordinary musical talents from these 14 groups," said Bryan Searing, organizer of the 2012 Colorado Springs Christmas Crèche Exhibit & Concerts.  "Now in our fourth year, we are looking forward to sharing the spirit of Christmas with our community and bringing everyone together.  To help warm the hearts and bellies, there will also be complimentary hot chocolate served right after the Live Nativity presentations on both evenings of the event.  Inside the chapel, the musical performances will surely warm the hearts and soul of the audience." 

 

Last year, over 4,000 people participated in the two-day event and enjoyed 450 different nativities from all over the world while listening to live Christmas music performed by many of Colorado Springs musical groups.      

 

    

DATES & TIMES
The 2012 Colorado Springs Christmas Crèche exhibit and concerts will take place on Nov. 30st -December 1st and is free to the public with a requested canned goods donation to Care and Share Food Bank at the door.

 

Times are as follows:

Friday, Nov. 30, 5:00pm - 9:00pm (Live Nativity Presentations at 6pm & 7pm)
Saturday, December 1, 10:00am - 9:00pm  (Live Nativity Presentations at 6pm & 7pm)

The planning committee includes members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the event will be held.

LOCATION 
The event will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 8610 Scarborough Drive in Colorado Springs, CO 80920. The church is near the intersection of Powers Boulevard and Research Parkway.

 

COST

Admission is free to all of the events with a requested canned goods donation to CARE and SHARE at the door.  Last year, over 500 pounds of food was collected at the event and donated to CARE and SHARE.  This year, we are planning to collect 2,000 pounds of food for Care & Share through 4 different collection locations at various chapels.

2012 Crèche  Exhibit Musical Performances Schedule

Friday - November 30

5:00pm -  Pine Creek High School Festival Singers

  • Pine Creek High School's      Festival Singers is directed by Dan Jeppson. This is one of eight choirs      at Pine Creek High School and is directed by Mr. Jeppson and Ms. Heidi      Lopez.  This is the highest auditioned choir at Pine Creek and has      consistently scored superior ratings at state competitions. Many of the      students were recently selected through rigorous auditions to be members      of the Colorado All State Choir.

 

5:30pm   - John Stoffey: Pianist

6:00pm  - Live Nativity outside

6:30pm - Colorado Springs Young Cellists Ensemble

  • The Colorado Springs      Young Cellists Ensemble is composed of 15 cellists and is directed by Dr.      Nancy Snustad.  The members of the ensemble range from beginners to      advanced performers. This group recently performed at the Pikes Peak Center      as the pre-Concert and Intermission music prior to a      Colorado Springs Philharmonic's performance. This group performed at the      Colorado Music Educator's Convention in 2012.

7:00pm  -  Live Nativity outside

7:30pm - The Rasmussen Family

  • Two generations of the      multi-talented Rasmussen family will present original arrangements of      traditional and non-traditional Christmas carols accompanied by organ,      hammered dulcimer, violins, cello, voice ensembles, harp, and special      percussion.

8:30pm – Pam VanWie - Pianist

 


Saturday - December 1st

10:00am - Bellarte Studio and Friends

  • Students      of Bessie Rasmussen and Ramona McConkie
  • Talented      students of Bessie Rasmussen and Ramona McConkie will share vocal and      cello music with the community.

 

11:00am -  Meredith Jack: Harp and Piano, Ramona McConkie: Cello, Evonne Hacker: Flute

11:30am - Briargate Ward male quartet

12:00pm - Josh Page: Pianist 

  • Josh Page is a      phenomenally gifted pianist who sits at the piano and improvises      arrangements. 

1:00pm -  Fairfax Ward musical presentations

2:00pm - Explorer Park Ward Choir

  • Performing traditional      Christmas Carols

3:00pm  -  Victoria’s Harpers

4:00pm -  Institute Choir

5:00pm -  Come Saturday Morning 

  • Come Saturday Morning, so named because of their 7:00 a.m. Saturday rehearsal      time, has been in existence for over 35 years. It is a group of busy      mothers and grandmothers who love to gather, love to serve, and love to      make music together. They perform regularly at Nursing Homes and Assisted      Living facilities, as well as for parties and conventions.

6:00pm -  Live Nativity outside

6:30pm  - Liberty High School Choirs

  • Three choirs from      Liberty High School, Women’s Ensemble, Chamber Singers and Jazz Choir      directed by Teresa Newman, will perform a variety of Christmas music at      the Crèche Exhibit on Saturday night.  These award winning ensemble      feature the best of Liberty High School’s talented music program.

7:30pm - Bells from the Basement Handbell Choir

  • Bells from the Basement      Handbell choir originally started with neighbors learning to play hand      bells as a cure for cabin fever during a severe week of snowstorms.       This is the 6th year the choir has performed together.
