Church's BBQ Feeds 900

Members of Sunrise United Methodist Church organized and conducted a barbeque for the Marian House Soup Kitchen.  They served 900 meals on Saturday, 18 May, the church's 6th BBQ in as many years.   Nearly perfect weather greeted  the 80 plus volunteers who went to give back and to make a difference.  The idea of a BBQ started with the premise that people are hungry all through the year, not just Thanksgiving or Christmas.  The group took the grills, tables, chairs, and of course the food to the…See More

Chickens in the City

I grew up listening to Chickenman on the radio, "He's everywhere!  He's everywhere!"  Chickenman was inspired by another superhero, Batman; Chickenman stuck terror in the heart of criminals everywhere.  It's has been a long time since I thought much about chickens and superheroes.  But on Saturday we took the "Take a Peak Chicken Coup Tour" right here in Colorado Springs.  Thirty-six chicken coops were listed on the self-guided tour along with live animals, fresh eggs, and real life chicken…See More
